ClefSnap Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 October 2026

ClefSnap (“the app”) is made by Francisco Pampulha (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what the app does with your information. If you have a question about it, write to theeargymapp@gmail.com.

The short version

What stays on your device

Deleting the app deletes all of this. We have no copy.

Permissions

The app does not use your microphone, location or contacts, and does not track you across other apps or websites.

Information sent off your device

Text recognition on Android (Google ML Kit). On Android the app uses Google’s ML Kit to recognise printed words (titles, lyrics, chord symbols) on the device. ML Kit may send Google technical information about its use, such as the device model, app version and performance measurements. It does not send your images or the recognised text. See Google’s ML Kit terms: https://developers.google.com/ml-kit/terms

Purchases. Premium is bought through the App Store or Google Play, under their terms and privacy policies. The app learns the purchase status (which plan, whether it is active), never your payment details.

Usage statistics (Google Firebase Analytics). In Europe, and wherever the app cannot tell the region, the app asks once whether it may send anonymous usage statistics. Until you say yes, nothing is collected or sent. The app judges the region on the device, from its time zone, SIM and network country and language settings, without sending anything. Elsewhere statistics are on unless you turn them off in Settings.

When statistics are on, the app sends counts and choices from fixed lists so we can improve it:

Firebase adds an app-instance identifier and device information (model, operating system version, app version, country derived from the network, language). It never receives your scores, photos, PDFs, titles, file names or anything you write. No advertising identifier is collected and nothing is used for advertising. Google Analytics keeps this data for 2 months.

You can turn statistics off in Settings → Share usage statistics. Turning them off also deletes the statistics not yet sent and resets the app-instance identifier. See Google’s privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

Your rights

We keep no personal data about you on any server of ours: everything is on your device, so there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. Usage statistics, if they are on, are pseudonymous and kept by Google Analytics for us. Turning them off in Settings stops them and resets the identifier they were sent under. For any request or question, write to theeargymapp@gmail.com.

Changes

We will update this page when the app’s handling of information changes, and change the date at the top.
